In a
conversation this week (Facebook login required) on the
Library page on Facebook, we mentioned
Project Gutenberg, where you can download thousands of public domain ebooks for your computer or e-reader.
Did you know you can help create these ebooks? On
Distributed Proofreaders you can sign in to choose a book that interests you and proofread a single page, or as many pages as you like.
Other options there include:
- formatting a single page with italics, footnotes, etc;
- smoothreading a nearly-ready ebook to catch the last remaining typos;
- getting really involved and managing your own project!
("Friday Free Stuff" is to be a weekly feature - let us know about any free information resources you think we should profile!)
