Friday Free Stuff: Scenic photos

A cool project in the UK, Geograph, "aims to collect geographically representative photographs and information for every square kilometre of Great Britain and Ireland". People posting photos to the site agree to make them available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license.

Free New Zealand Photos isn't quite so geographically organised but lets you search by broad region and subject category, and again the images are available by Creative Commons.

For more historic photos, Timeframes is a National Library site showcasing "New Zealand and the Pacific through images". The 80,000+ images come from the Alexander Turnbull Library and are free for most uses under generous conditions.
