Young Persons' fiction collection

This collection was originally purchased from Professor D.C. Gunby of the English department in the 1980s, and selected items have been purchased at his suggestion over the last twenty years.

The Henderson Collection of children's and young persons' books acquired upon the amalgamation of the University of Canterbury with the Christchurch College of Education has been added to the collection.

In total the collection numbers about 1000 items from the later 19th century until the 1930s. The majority of the boooks were written for boys, but there are a number of girls' titles, and annuals for both sexes. The collection does not include books for young children.
