Canterbury earthquakes 2011 Frequently Asked Questions - updated 26 July
When will the Libraries open?
- Central, Education, Law and Macmillan Brown Libraries are open. In the Central Library and Learning Hub there is general access to levels 2,3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10.
- The Self Loan Area on level 2 of Central Library contains holds and the high demand material for EPS and Central.
- The EPS Library has no timeframe for opening due to issues with adjacent buildings from Feb 22. Some EPS book stock is available from the Central Library. Staff have begun retrievals of requested items from EPS.
- Please monitor the Library's hours page for opening hours.
Where do I find items?
- If the catalogue indicates that a High Demand item is in EPS place a request on the item via the Library catalogue.
- Please check any notices about requested books for information about where to collect them as it may change.
- The Central DVD collection and some Central books are available from the Education Library.
- The EPS books which have been returned are available from the Central Library.
Should I return my library books?
- You can return books to any open library, currently Central, Law, Macmillan Brown and Education.
- If you are not able to return the items please use the My Library Account features from the website to renew the item. If you are unable to renew an item then it must be returned. Please note that items due but not returned will eventually be recorded as ‘Lost’ in the library system and then an invoice for the replacement cost will be sent to you.
- Fines have been suspended until further notice.
- Please send any queries to Library Lending.
How can I get an item from a closed library or the closed floors of Central Library?
- Please place a request, via the Library catalogue, on any item that you require.
- We will retrieve items where and when we can, but this is dependent on building accessibility. Please check news on the Library's homepage for updates as areas become available for retrieval of items.
- You will receive an email when an item is available.
- Check with a Liaison Librarian to see if there is an alternative resource.
- Please cancel any requests made in Semester 1 that you no longer require.
