Guide: Searching the Web

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a search engine for academic literature. It enables you to search across peer-reviewed journal articles, books and conference papers covering all disciplines. We recommend that you use Google Scholar as a supplement to your searching of Library Databases.

Searching Google Scholar

Search Google Scholar in the same way that you would search Google. Use the Advanced Search Screen to narrow your search by:

  • words that only appear in the title
  • author
  • date range

Activity

  • Open the Google Scholar search engine in a new window and search for "genetic engineering".
  • Click on Recent articles link to see articles published in the last five years. Scroll through the list of results.
  • Click on the title of an item to view more information.
  • Try clicking on "Full-Text@My Library" to locate the fulltext of an article.

Follow the instructions to turn on the Full-Text@My Library links off-campus to see which resources the Library provides access to.
