APA Referencing
Why reference?
When writing an assignment you will come across other peoples' ideas, theory or research that you will want to reference in your own work. Making reference to other work is called referencing or citing. Referencing sources correctly is important to:
- give another author or organization credit for their words, opinions or ideas to avoid plagiarism.
- direct readers to the original sources, if they want to find further information.
- improve the credibility and authority of your own work.
- avoid losing marks.
