Interloans

  • Items not held by the UC Library may be requested from other libraries via interloan.
  • This service is available only to UC staff and students, for the purposes of UC study, research and/or teaching. Currently, there are no charges for Interloans.

Requesting an interloan

  1. Go to the UC Library interloans interface (ZPORTAL). The system needs to verify that you are a UC user - see more about logging in.
  2. Search for the publication you require. Please note: you need to search for the containing publication (journal or book title) rather than the article title.
  3. Click on the get it icon to the right of the record to make a request.
  4. No results? Click Create Request to get a blank request form (under the My Account heading in the left navigation bar in the UC Library interloans interface)

Search online first

We strongly recommend that you search Multisearch and Google (or other internet search engine) first. Increasing online access to information means that you may well find what you are looking for through these sources.

Managing existing interloan requests

Go to My Requests (interloans) to view and manage your interloan requests. Interloans received in electronic form are also be downloaded from here.

Keeping your contact details up to date

To enable us to send interloans to the correct place it is essential that your contact details are up to date. If your contact details have changed, please update them on UC Student Web (students) or contact HR (staff). These should update across the system within 24 hours. Contact Library staff if you have any problems.

Renewing interloaned items

Please email interloans staff to request a renewal of an interloaned item, as this is at the discretion of the loaning library.

Conditions and how to request from the University of Canterbury

Non-members of the University of Canterbury

Individuals who are not a University of Canterbury Student or Staff member may not use the Interloan service. Please contact your institutional or public library to place your request.
