Description

We hold closed companies files for Canterbury (which originated from the Christchurch Companies Office), dating back to the 1870s: that is, the files of companies struck off the register (known as "dead" or ‘closed’ companies). The list for each accession is in chronological order according to the date of registration, and you can search by company name on computer, if necessary. The files contain correspondence, and annual returns giving particulars of directors and shareholders. We also hold miscellaneous Companies Office registers from 1863 - 1978.

Restrictions

There is a 20 year restriction (from date of closure) on access to the correspondence sections of these files.
