Information services

You can expect assistance from the Help/Information Desks in the campus Libraries.

Information Services staff will assist you with finding your way around and locating relevant materials. They can give you advice on where to find the information you need.

You can also use the online information request form.

AV facilities

You may use the AV facilities when they are not booked by University of Canterbury staff or students. ULANZ and CTA borrowers may not place bookings. Copying from microforms will be carried out by Library staff.

Access to Licenced Electronic Resources and IT Accounts

Under the terms of the ULANZ and CTA agreements, reciprocal membership of a library gives only physical borrowing rights at each participating library.

There is no provision for IT services, or any login rights to services and databases that are only provided for fully enrolled students or staff of the University of Canterbury. The restriction of access to databases also restricts access to full-text journal articles provided via these databases.

Photocopying

You may use the photocopying facilities.

You can obtain a casual photocopying card at both the Copy Centre and Central Library Information Desk.  Credit can be added at the Copy Centre, and all libraries.

Library fines

The casual photocopying card can also be used to pay library fines.

See "Photocopying" for instructions on how to purchase and add credit to a casual card.

Interloans

Interlibrary loan, document delivery and distance services are the responsibility of the home library.

Academic year

Hours (Please note that hours are reduced over the summer period).

High demand periods

There are times in the year when library services and space are in very high demand. These are typically the last two weeks in June (preparation for mid-year exams), and October and the first two weeks of November (preparation for final exams).

During these times external patrons need to be aware that priority services and seating will be given to University of Canterbury students.
