Using the Storage Request Form
Items in Storage collections have a link to an online request form embedded in the bibiographic record on the Library Catalogue.
How to Fill Out the Form
- Note that the Title, Author and Call number fields have automatically been filled in from the bibliographic record that you selected. This information cannot be changed.
- If the item you are requesting is a serial you must tell us what volume, number and year you need.
- You may add comments in the "Further information" field e.g. title and author of the article required.
- Enter your full name. Since we need to know who is requesting the item, the form cannot be submitted without your name.
- A current, valid Borrower Number is required in order to submit the request. If you do not have one, you may be eligible to join the Library as an External Borrower. Please see External patrons & Alumni membership.
- Select a Library from which to pick up the material.
Collecting the Requested Item
Your submitted request will be logged on the Library computer system. You will receive an automated response to verify that the request was received and this will contain a summary of the request details. A confirmation message will also be sent to your email address.
Requests for items in storage are collected each morning, Monday to Friday. Please note that some requests are difficult to trace and may take more than 24 hours. This information is provided on your request confirmation page at the end of the request process.
Once the requested item is collected from Storage and delivered to the library location that you chose, you will receive a Hold notification in the normal manner.
Requesting serials
Volumes from some serial titles are split between Storage for the older volumes and open shelves for the more recent volumes.
An example is American Economic Review (HB 1 .A512 e). V. 36-49 (1959) are kept in Storage, volumes from v. 50 are in the Central Library Level 11 open shelves.
