How to Borrow a University of Canterbury Thesis
Find the thesis record on the Library catalogue and scroll down to "Copy/Holding Information".
Interpreting the Copy/Holding Information
A thesis may be borrowable just like a book if there is more than one copy of the thesis. As long as it is currently "In Library" you can find it on the open shelves and have it issued at the Lending or Service Desk of the relevant library. If the borrowable copy is out, you can request it in the normal way using the request this copy link beside the due date.

A thesis that can only be used in the Library will have the call number "Thesis ([Subject]) and will display the name of the branch library that holds it in the Location column. Some theses have an embargo on them that means they cannot be viewed before a certain date. This information will be displayed in the Copy/Holding Information. Any thesis with an embargo will not be available for use before the specified date.

If the location of an unborrowable thesis displays Education, Engineering, or Law Library, ask at the desk of the appropriate library. You will be able to read the thesis in the library, but not take it out of the Library.
Requesting a Storage Thesis
If the location of a thesis displays Storage and the status is In Storage you can request it in the normal way using the request this copy link. These items can only be used in the Special Collections Reading Room on Level 3 of the Central Library.
