Transactions of the Fijian Society

The Transactions of the Fijian Society contain information on anthropology, history, economics, education, science and more.

The Macmillan Brown Library has 1912 to 1924, excluding 1919. We do not have the earlier years. The Library also holds Transaction of Proceedings of the Fiji Society of Science and Industry from vol 1-3 (1938-1947) and Transactions and Proceedings of the Fiji Society Vol 4-14 (1948-1980).

There is an author index 1908-26 online and the Library holds a copy of the subject and author index for 1938-1972.

The Fijian Society was formed in 1908 to research and preserve Fiji’s history and culture, including by the establishment of a museum. Its initial publication was the Transactions of the Fijian Society. In 1938, the Fijian Society was succeeded by the Fiji Society and the Transactions and Proceedings of the Fiji Society of Science and Industry then the Transactions and Proceedings of the Fiji Society were published under their authority. Publication ceased in 1980.
